Anxiety Counselling
Practical, personalised support for anxiety, stress, overwhelm, and ADHD burnout.
You’ve already got this far, taken the first step in looking for some help, and that’s a big deal.
You’ve been pushing through anxiety, stress, and exhaustion, and now you're ready to get some support; let’s keep that momentum going.
How I Make Anxiety Counselling Simple
Right from your first appointment
Counselling with me is practical, down-to-earth, and designed to work with your real life - not add more pressure to it.
In your first appointment, we’ll work together to understand your goals; things like:
What do you want from this commitment you’re making to yourself?
What do you want life to feel like instead?
Then we’ll get started with personalised tools and strategies that help reduce anxiety and build confidence, clarity, and calm.
What We Might Work On Together
Some of the common areas we explore in counselling for anxiety include:
Exploring what’s behind anxiety - are there old stories or expectations tripping you up?
Learning to unhook from anxious thoughts so they stop running the show
Calming your nervous system when everything feels “too much”
Responding differently to stress so it doesn’t hijack your whole day
Making small, realistic shifts that actually stick, and build momentum
Understanding if ADHD might be part of the picture and feeding into feeling anxious

Anxiety counselling is focused on noticing when you're feeling anxious, identifying your triggers, and building practical tools to manage it. Sessions combine evidence-based approaches like ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) with real, everyday strategies you can use between sessions; not just talking about the anxiety, but changing your relationship with it.
-
If you're anything like me, and many of my clients, you might not have a single "big" moment that tells you it's time - it's more the accumulation of racing thoughts, trouble switching off, or anxiety getting in the way of work, relationships or sleep. If anxiety is taking up more space than you'd like, that's reason enough to reach out.
-
No - you don't need a referral to book a counselling appointment. A referral is only relevant for WorkCover claims, where there are different requirements.
-
Counselling sessions are self-funded and aren't eligible for a Medicare rebate. If you're covered through WorkCover or QPS SelfRefer, you can book and access funded sessions.
-
It varies - some clients find a handful of sessions enough to build tools they can keep using, others prefer ongoing support, especially if anxiety is longstanding or tied to ADHD. We'll check in on progress regularly rather than locking you into a set number upfront.
-
Yes - sessions are available online, as well as face-to-face in Enoggera, Brisbane. Many clients find online just as effective, with the added ease of not having to travel.

Counselling and psychology overlap in the tools used, but training pathways differ in focus. As a Clinical Counsellor, my training centres on counselling skills - building the therapeutic relationship, and applying practical, collaborative approaches - rather than diagnostic assessment. I focus on helping you manage and understand your anxiety day to day. If your situation needs other supports, such as a formal diagnosis, I'll always point you in the right direction.

Anxiety and ADHD often feed into each other; the ADHD brain can generate anxiety just by trying to function in a world built for neurotypical brains. As an Anxious ADHDer myself, I work with both together, rather than treating them as separate issues, which is often where generic anxiety approaches fall short for ADHD brains.
