SelfRefer - Funded Counselling for Staff and Volunteers of:
Queensland Police Service
State Emergency Service
Marine Rescue Queensland
If you're a current employee or volunteer of the Queensland Police Service (QPS), State Emergency Service (SES), or Marine Rescue Queensland (MRQ), you're eligible for up to 6 free counselling sessions per financial year through the SelfRefer program (no referral needed).
These Sessions Are:
Private and confidential
Funded by QPS SelfRefer
Separate from your workplace
Available online, by phone, or in person
You don’t need to be in crisis to reach out. This space is here to help you pause, reset, and feel more in control - whether it’s managing stress, navigating burnout, dealing with anxiety, or just making space to think clearly.
What to Expect
In our first session, we’ll talk about what’s brought you here and what you’d like to get out of counselling. It’s a chance for you to set the pace and for me to understand how I can best support and guide you. Together, we’ll focus on realistic strategies that fit your life, not add pressure to it.
Still have questions? Take a look at the FAQ or reach out anytime. If you’re feeling ready, go ahead and book your appointment with me.

SelfRefer is a free, external, confidential mental wellbeing support option for current Queensland Police Service employees, also extending to SES and MRQ employees and volunteers. It's designed to make it easier to seek support outside QPS, with your details kept separate from your employer.
-
Current employees or volunteers of the Queensland Police Service (QPS), State Emergency Service (SES) or Marine Rescue Queensland (MRQ) are all eligible, each entitled to six sessions per Financial Year.
-
Your valid QPS, SES or MRQ identification, which I sight to confirm your eligibility - whether we meet in person or by telehealth.
-
Current employees or volunteers of the Queensland Police Service (QPS), State Emergency Service (SES) or Marine Rescue Queensland (MRQ) are all eligible, each entitled to six sessions per Financial Year at no cost to you - QPS funds these directly.
-
Yes. Your details aren't provided to QPS; sessions are only identified to QPS via a de-identified invoice number, not your name.
-
Both options are available - SelfRefer sessions can be conducted in-person or via telehealth, so you don't need to be near your provider to access support.
-
Couples counselling is covered under SelfRefer, so your partner can join sessions with you. This doesn't currently extend to other family members.
-
If you need further appointments after your six funded sessions, this is something to discuss with your provider - options may include continuing at your own expense, or your provider can help you look at other support options available to you.
-
You can search the SelfRefer provider directory, or go directly through a provider's own website if you already know who you'd like to see. I'm a registered SelfRefer provider based in Enoggera, Brisbane, and also see clients online, so you don't need to be local to book with me.
